Durban Olympics

SYMBOL SYSTEM, STUDENT WORK

MISSION

To design an Olympic symbol system for a hypothetical host city and for sports that haven't become official Olympic sports yet.

CONCEPT

My team and I chose to design Olympic symbols for Durban, South Africa. Our decision was based on the fact that no African city has ever hosted the Olympic Games and that Durban, being a coastal city, would allow for all Summer Olympic games to take place. The colors and visual language used are pulled from the Durban flag and the region's Zulu culture.
