If I Was Ruder
VIDEO, STUDENT WORK
To choose a renowned designer to study and then create a set of film titles for a film that aired in that designer's flourishing period. I was to design the titles as if I was that designer.
The designer I chose to study was Swiss designer Emil Ruder and the film I chose to design titles for was The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957). The film had a warm color palette so I used the yellow from the film and red from aesthetics of the Swiss Style and from the film's Japanese component to set the mood. I focused mainly on letting the typography speak more than other visual elements—something I believe Ruder would've allowed as well.
