MY NAME IS SOLACE

MISSION

I really love posters. I know. We all do. But I love Japanese haiku too, and I’ve written a hundred of them. So I set out to design 100 haiku posters…because why not?

IDEA

This operation involves me exploring the best ways to visually depict my haiku. These posters are constructed with one image and one haiku as the only typography. While each poster is intended to be an accurate manifestation of its parent poem, they are also tests of how well the poems as typographic elements can live in the environment of its complementary photograph.

The title comes from my poem series of the same name in which each haiku is a short record of my life experiences and emotions. The poems together, and the collective of their posters, make up the ultimate experience I get from writing and designing them: solace.
